Youth engagement in governance, peace and security in East Africa

How can the region leverage its youth majority to achieve inclusive governance, despite persistent barriers and instability risks? Enhancing youth engagement in East Africa’s governance, peace and security is imperative for regional stability and sustainable development. With more than 70% of the population under 35, young people have the potential to shape a more inclusive and peaceful future. However, structural, social and institutional barriers still limit their meaningful participation, increasing the risk of marginalisation, disillusionment and instability across the region.
