The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial eProcurement Dialogue: Practitioner Perspectives on Digital Procurement Reform, Integrity and Oversight (KZN)

GTAC

Abstract

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial eProcurement Dialogue, convened by GTAC in partnership with OCPO under the EU–South Africa Dialogue Facility III, brought together procurement practitioners and stakeholders to inform South Africa’s public procurement reforms. Discussions explored operational challenges, integrity risks and opportunities for digitalisation, emphasising that effective reform must align technology with legislation, sound procurement processes, institutional capacity and strong governance. The insights gathered will inform further technical work and policy consideration. This dialogue paper captures the insights from the dialogue. The paper was delivered as part of the SA-EU Dialogue – a partnership between National Treasury, GTAC, GIZ and the European Union which is focused on strengthening public procurement systems in South Africa.
